Conservatives Everywhere Are Liberal With The Truth

It’s not just Australia where the conservative side of politics has a problem with the truth. As the video from the Obama campaign below shows, American conservatives, in particular Vice Presidential wannabe Paul Ryan, seems to have the same problem.

Stephen Colbert, in his own inimitable fashion, rips apart the level of “truthiness” in Ryan’s speech at the Republican Party’s National Convention.

Of particular note was the comment about how his musical taste runs from “AC/DC to Zeppelin” implying that his musical taste is “classic rock” that runs from one end of the alphabet to the other.

The Derp can only assume by “Zeppelin”, he means Led Zeppelin, whose name begins with an “L”, not a “Z”.  From that we can also assume that means he doesn’t like other classic rock acts whose name begin with an “M” or a later letter in the alphabet. That means he is missing out on other classic rock acts such as Metallica, Nirvana, Ozzy Osbourne, Pink Floyd (although Ryan may actually them have the filed under “F”), Queen, The Rolling StonesU2, Van Halen and more.

Also interesting, despite American political conventions (especially Republican ones), being uber-patriotic chest thumping events, was Ryan’s choice of bands to mention. One is an Anglo/Australian outfit, and the other is pure Anglo. Surely someone as “patriotic” as Ryan should have said, “My musical tastes run from Aerosmith to ZZ Top” shouldn’t he?
